PH’s Father of Sepak Takraw dies

SERVILLANO Aquino Padiz, Jr., considered as the the Father of Sepak Takraw in the Philippines, passed away on Tuesday.

Padiz brought the sport of sepak takraw in the country in 1981 and was the first president of the Philippine Amateur Sepak Takraw Association under the umbrella of the Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission.

He also served as Physical Education teacher and Sports Chief of th Division of City Schools, Manila until his retirement in 2002. His remains lie in state at the Arlington Memorial Chapels and Crematory (no. 12) at G. Araneta Avenue, Quezon City until March 24.
