Discovery Perlas champion for 3rd straight time

DISCOVERY Perlas Pilipinas emerged as champion for the third time in a row at the third Discovery Women’s Basketball Invitational at the Almendras Gym, Davao City Recreation Center recently.

The national women’s basketball team competed with Papua New Guinea Valivas A and B, which won first and third runners-up, respectively, as well as Turkmenistan, which placed second runner-up.

Seen in the games to show support were Philippine Sports Commission Chief of Staff Atty. Jay Allano, who represented PSC Commissioner Akiko Thomson-Guevara and the PSC Women in Sports program, together with Dr. Arlene De Vera, Director of the Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association in Mindanao.

The invitational was presented by Filipino hospitality group The Discovery Leisure Company, with the support of the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office.

It was also sponsored by the MIS Maritime Corporation, The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Sterling Bank of Asia, Chevrolet-Davao, Chowking, Gatorade, Havaianas, GrabTaxi, Summit, Gerry’s Grill, Uratex and AdDu.
