Donaire begins training

DETERMINED to use every opportunity to train while waiting for his father/trainer Nonito Donaire Sr. to arrive on April 12, to officially begin his training camp, Nonito Donaire worked out at the Elorde Gym at Home Depot in Ortigas after an interview with ABS-CBN for a pre-fight primer on his World Boxing Association world title fight against South African champion Simpiwe Vetyeka in Macau on May 31.

Donaire shadow-boxed and then hammered the heavy bag with vicious combinations during which he demonstrated remarkable hand-speed, which is expected to be a key factor in his title fight against Vetyeka.

“The fight against Veyteka is never easy because he is a world champion for a reason and it’s going to be a very important fight to mark the fifth division I am fighting in and on top of that, it’s a world championship,” Donaire told the Manila Standard.
