I saw the Monday episode of Mundo Mo’y Akin and I can say that the acting arena of that show is no longer a monopoly of Jaclyn Jose and Gabby Eigenmann.
In the scene where Louise de los Reyes, who is playing the ugly duckling granddaughter Marilyn of Donya Charito (Jose), visited Perlita (Sunshine Dizon) in the hospital where she is recovering after a brain surgery, she started showing very realistic emotions when someone sees a member of a family in that kind of state. She cried real tears even as she was blurting out her feelings for a person she knew as her mother. And that was continuous, without cuts. And in the background was Donya Charito visibly moved by Marilyn’s emotional outburst.
That’s what I call good acting. And De los Reyes didn’t mind that the prosthesis applied to her face to make her look “ugly” would even make her features even more horrid than already was.
Now, that the series is nearing its end, I must confess I am hooked and looking forward to the day when Marilyn finally asserts herself as the real heir of Carbonel’s wealth and make Darlene realize that in the mistake Giselle (Angelika de la Cruz) made to keep her ugly past a secret from Ziggy (Eigenmann) she is bound to poverty for the rest of her life, unless she uses the education she got while living a life of lies and pretenses.
