Bong proud to be called ‘Indio’
Sen. Bong Revilla is very proud of the GMA-7 fantasy-drama , the network’s opening salvo for 2013.
“Well, who wouldn’t be? This is said to be the Kapuso’s biggest and most expensive project to date. Budget, story, production value and cast-wise, wow! I’m very thankful to GMA for entrusting me a project as grand as Indio for my first-ever prime time offering,” he says.
Its pilot episode garnered an impressive rating.
“Thank you! It feels good. At least, all our efforts are rewarded. In terms of budget alone, Indio is equivalent to five films. Wait till you see the Spanish setting. And of course, the special effects! This is really one program which every Filipino can be proud of as it exhibits our rich culture and history.”
He didn’t want to star in a drama series before and would rather do movies. Many are curious what convinced him this time.
“Let’s just say that I’m not getting any younger. It’s time to explore and try something new. I told GMA that I wanted to do a soap opera but it should be of epic proportions since this could also be the last time I’ll do something like this. Presto! Indio was a perfect vehicle.
“One thing more, I’m enjoying the tapings. Of course, I sacrifice a lot especially that it eats up much of my time. But seeing the rushes, it’s all worth it. I’m happy to have made the right decision!”
In Indio, some of the Kapuso’s top female talents are giving strong support: Jennylyn Mercado, Rhian Ramos and Maxene Magalona. He will have romantic involvement with all three in the story.
“Now you see how appealing Indio is? Ha-ha-ha! But seriously, I’m honored to be paired with them. They are three of GMA’s prized properties. Especially with Jen and Rhian whom I worked with in films before, I can say that not only did they become lovelier, they also improved remarkably as actresses,” ends Bong.
According to Jennylyn Mercado, 2013 is a good year for her.
“I have a great start,” she says. “After my afternoon soap Hindi Ka Na Mag-iisa, I’m part of the new Kapuso soap Indio where I play one of Sen. Bong Revilla’s leading ladies. It’s an ambitious project in terms of scope and budget. I’m simply happy that GMA cast me in here!”
The pretty actress-singer-host reveals that Indio is not easy to do.
“For one, it’s costume-heavy since the story depicts the era when we were under Spanish rule. Mine is hot and you can just imagine the preparation. The dialogue is also one tough area to contend with. We are to deliver long and deep Tagalog lines. It’s good that we have a Spanish teacher on the set to guide us. I’m just so proud to be part of this show!”
How is it working with Sen. Bong?
“Actually, this is not my first time with him. Remember Resiklo a few years ago? Well, he’s still the same. As a leading man, he’s always caring. His dedication to his craft is also admirable. I only have good words for him,” adds Jen.
Asked about the rumor that she’s not in speaking terms again with Patrick Garcia because he allegedly stopped visiting their son Alex Jazz, the HOT TV host avers, “I don’t want to talk about it anymore. As far as I’m concerned, I only want the best for my son.”
