BIR tax drive in San Pablo
Commissioner of Internal Revenue Kim S. Jacinto-Henares on Tuesday urged taxpayers to file their income tax returns rather than put up with the inconvenience of having to wait in line when the time comes.
Henares made the appeal during the kick off ceremonies to launch the regional tax campaign at the SM Atrium in San Pablo City, Laguna hosted by Regional Director Jose N. Tan.
The first BIR commissioner to hit the trillion-peso revenue mark, Henares told taxpayers to issue receipts as a matter of obligation and help ensure all income earned are properly reported to the tax agency.
For his part, Tan appealed for cooperation from all the taxpayers of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Marinduque and Oriental Mindoro saying that the region ranked third in the country in terms of tax collection and in annual revenue goal. The soft-spoken Tan said that the region collected P30.2 billion in 2012, up by P4.6 billion from the 2011 level.
Assistant Commissioner Lucita G. Rodriguez of the Taxpayer Assistance Service underscored the meaning and significance of this year’s tax campaign logo with the theme “I love the Philippines, I pay taxes correctly.”
Deputy Commissioners Nelson M. Aspe, Estela V. Sales, Lilia C. Guillermo, Director Tan and Assistant Director Clavelina S. Nacar gave out plaques of recognition to RR No. 9, San Pablo City’s valued partners and supporters coming from the eleven (11) Revenue District Offices under the jurisdiction of the region.
