May 13 no-work holiday
President Benigno Aquino III has declared May 13 as a special public non-working holiday nationwide to “enable the people to properly exercise their right of suffrage.”
“We enjoin all eligible voters to use this non-working holiday to participate in the electoral process that forms the bedrock of our democracy,” presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said.
Mr. Aquino has taken an active role in campaigning for the senatorial bets of the administration, joining campaign sorties in the provinces to boost their chances of winning.
