Erap for Manilas renewal

Firing the opening salvo in Manila, former president Joseph Estrada and running mate Francisco Dumagoso Isko Moreno revealed their agenda of renewal to give the city a major facelift. Both actors-turned-politicians, Estrada and Moreno vowed to regain the lost glory and honor of Manila, the countrys capital. Manila is lagging behind the rapid development and urbanization of its neighboring localities as well as other chartered cities all over the country. Napag-iwanan na ang Maynila ng Makati, Valenzuela, San Juan, Puerto Princesa, Angeles and Davao City, Estrada said in his speech during the proclamation rally with lasted almost seven hours. An hour before the Sunday rally concluded, Estrada explained his five-pronged platform of governance which include peace and order, generation of investments, job creation, revenue generation and fiscal transparency, and urban renewal We must restore our police force in Manila, to redeem its image as Manilas finest and not Manilas worst . There can never be economic growth without peace and order, Estrada said adding that he will encourage investors to go back. Moreno for his part attributed the poor state of Manila to the citys having only two mayors -- Lito Atienza and Alfredo Lim -- for the past two decades. He also criticized the state Manila has gone through after 21 years by comparing it to the progress neighboring cities have encountered. Is there such thing as Global City in Taguig, Eastwood Development or what we call Libis in Quezon City, Ayala Technohub Development in UP-Fairview; Solaire in Paranaque? Or let me draw you closer, have you gone to Mall of Asia in Pasay City? Let me ask you this, what happened to Manila 21 years after? Moreno pointed out that those developed areas were once wastelands. The vice mayor, a former ally of Lim, said it has been a year since he a 29 other city councilors decided to withdraw their support to the present administration. The vice mayor said the having a new mayor in the person of the former president is a great honor for Manila. Estrada called on Lim to stop using personal attacks regarding past plunder charges filed against him by the Arroyo administration. He is the one who is using dirty tricks here. Everybody knows about it (plunder) already, let us stick to issues here and discuss the state of Manila, the welfare of the people under Dirty Harry. Dirty Harry is the moniker of Lim, while Estradas is Asiong Salonga. He showed video clips wherein former President Cory Aquino, Bishop Tobias and former SEC chairman Perfecto Yasay sought his forgiveness for the EDSA Dos where Estrada was ousted as president.
