1st National Koi Show slated
Koi hobbyists will show off their prized kois and compete for 21 trophies in the !st Philippine National Koi show hosted by KoiHob Philippines on February 23.
Competition venue will be at the Tiendesitas (Peoples Village) along C5, Pasig City and will feature high quality koi bred in Japan.
7 world renowned top Japanese breeders will judge the entries. They are Toshikatsu Sakai, Futoshi Mano, Hirashi Hirasawa, Hisato Nogami, Mashito Kataokae, Mitsunori Isa, and Taro Kataoka.
There will also be a special judging of the grow out event wherein hobbyists selected their individual choices from a batch of koi last summer. The hobbyists brought these koi to their own ponds and are bringing them back almost a year later.
The grow out competition is a much awaited event among hobbyists as the winner gets the “bragging rights” that go with the trophy as it validates their skills in choosing the right koi, caring and preparing their choices to competition levels.
At day’s end, the judges will select from among the category winners, the Grand National Champion.
The judges will also hold a seminar on koi care, maintaining water quality and other topics. Venue is Hotel 878, E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave, Quezon City on February 24.
