“HOW can you stop someone from their obsession? Is there a way to control compulsions? Can you face your fears? Are you aware that you have extreme anxiety?”

Know the answers to these questions as GMA News and Public Affairs premieres its newest docu-reality program Out of Control on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Out of Control’s Mariz Umali and Rocco Nacino
Hosted by seasoned broadcast journalist Mariz Umali and Kapuso homegrown artist Rocco Nacino, Out of Control is a weekly show that tells the story of individuals whose lives are run by their obsessions, compulsions, fears, and anxieties.

The show aims to inform and educate viewers on destructive psychological disorders. At the same time, the program aims to bring hope for those who have been suffering for years.

This groundbreaking and intriguing program, which runs for 45 minutes every Saturday, will document the lives of people who are suffering from these disorders. Their family and friends will also be interviewed to find out how their condition has affected their lives, jobs, and relationships.

They will also be introduced to experts who may be able to help them manage their condition. The program will record the process of diagnosis, therapy and the results of treatment

“Out of Control provides viewers with an insightful look at the intimate lives of those whose psychological or emotional conditions may be considered unusual—people with bizarre compulsion, paranoia or peculiar obsessions. Since this is the first time that Philippine television will ever tackle such a topic, the challenge for me as a host is to examine their idiosyncrasies without turning the subjects into caricatures,” says Mariz, who juggles her time as a reporter of GMA News and co-anchor of Balitanghali Weekend.

She adds, “Admittedly, this is daunting, but the exceptional way in which the show is written does provide clearer perspective as to who they are as people. With the help of highly qualified specialists, we will also offer the best therapy and counseling to help moderate their situations. I am sure that the viewing public will be informed and riveted by Out of Control, and I am honored to be hosting this program.”

The show hopes to give support to individuals and their families who are willing to reclaim their lives from the shackles of obsessions.

“It’s a privilege to be even considered for this project and marami akong natututunan. I’m glad that I can practice my nursing skills when it comes to establishing rapport with the case studies and trying to break into their wall of trust. It’s always a challenge every time we go out on the field and I look forward to that thrill, challenge and learning every time,” shares Rocco who is a registered nurse before he joined the entertainment industry via the reality show StarStruck. His previous series, Bayan Ko, recently earned the Philippine Quill Awards for Excellence.
