Nora Aunor welcomes 2014 with 3 films

SUPERSTAR Nora Aunor has three films in the works early this year as a big follow-up to her highly acclaimed indie starrer, Mes de Guzman’s Ang Kwento ni Mabuti.

Aunor missed to have an entry in recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival where she won best actress in 2012.

Nora Aunor stars in Dementia

The superstar has started shooting for Studio 5’s Dementia and her latest indie Padre de Pamilya, while completing When I Fall in Love, reuniting her with ’70s screen partner Tirso Cruz III.

Dementia, a psycho-drama-thriller for Studio 5, is Perci Intalan’s directorial debut. Partner Jun Lana is the line producer.

Aunor delineates the role of Mara, an emotionally disturbed woman. Rising new actress Jasmine Curtis Smith, she is in Transit, gets a golden chance to star with Aunor. The film will have location shoots in Balagtas, Bulacan and Basco, Batanes.

In Padre de Pamilya by Adolf Alix Jr., Aunor leads a multi-tested cast that includes Joel Torre, Rosanna Roces, Anita Linda, Baron Geisler and Coco Martin. Martin told the press that it was dream come true to act in a film with the great Aunor. Padre de Pamilya will be partly shot in Malaysia.

Aunor’s reunion TVmovie with Cruz is by Joel Lamangan in whose films gave her acting honors—The Flor Contemplacion Story, Bakit May Kahapon Pa?, and Muling Umawit ang Puso.

She plays wife to Cruz who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. Already in the can, the TV movie may be released for a commercial run as TV5 executives said that it has turned into a great movie. Nadine Samonte, Edgar Allan Guzman, Akihiro Blanco, Felix Roco, Marc Abaya, Menggie Cobarrubias and Jerry O’Hara are cast with the all-time most popular love team.

Aunor may be turning a new leaf in her illustrious career as she was reported to have been included in the list submitted last year to Malacañang by the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) and Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) to be considered for the National Artist Awards.

Aunor is said to be up for the Film and Broadcast Arts category with others that include Cirilo Bautista for Literature; Francisco Coching for Visual Arts; Francisco Feliciano for Music; Alice Reyes for Dance; and Jose Ma. Zaragoza for Architecture.
