Ang Lee at SM Aura

THE Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines, spearheaded by Representative Ambassador Raymond L.S. Wang, in partnership with SM Aura Premier, has especially arranged for two-time Academy Award Best Director Ang Lee to come to the Philippines for the very first time for a homage event entitled A Salute to Ang Lee on Nov. 28 to 29.

In cooperation with the Film Development Council of the Philippines and Warner Bros. Philippines, TECO will be holding a special by-invitation screening of Life of Pi and a historic open forum to be led by director Ang Lee at SM Aura Cinema with world-renowned Filipino directors Tikoy Aguiluz, Brilliante Mendoza, and Erik Matti.

Known as the most successful Asian filmmaker to date, director Ang Lee is set to impart his cinematic genius with the Filipino audiences and film enthusiasts.

His most recent masterpiece, Life of Pi (2012), garnered applause from award-giving bodies and raked in about $500 million worldwide.

For this film, he won his second Oscaar Best Director honor at the 85th Academy Awards, successfully securing his position among the greatest directors of the era. Among his other famous works include Pushing Hands (1992), The Wedding Banquet (1993), Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), Hulk (2003), Brokeback Mountain (2005), and Lust, Caution (2007). To date, he has been conferred 12 Academy Awards and nine Golden Globes.
