World Boxing Organization International light welterweight champion Jason Pagara is in for the fight of his life when he tangles with Mexico’s Aaron Herrera at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu in the ALA Promotions-ABS-CBN Pinoy Pride XX fight card on May 25.
The 24-year-old Pagara, who has a record of 30-2 with 19 knockouts, has beaten some tough opponents, but the reports out of Mexico and the Manila Standard showed that the lanky fighter has power, which accounts for his 17 knockouts in 25 wins with only one loss.
In his last fight, Herrera scored a first-round knockout of Jorge Pimentel on Nov. 3, 2012, following an earlier first-round TKO of Zaid Zavaleta on April 21, 2012, although he dropped an eight-round decision to Fernando Garcia for his only setback on July 21 last year.
Pagara himself is coming off a first-round knockout of previously undefeated Miguel Antoine, who had a record of 17-0-1 with 9 knockouts.
In what promises to be an action-packed bout, all-action southpaw Jimrex Jaca (37-6-3, 21 KOs) will face off with another Mexican, 30-year-old Jose Emilio Perea (27-2, 14 KOs) for the vacant WBO Oriental light welterweight title.
