Kim Rodriguez takes lead role

By Isah V. Red | Mar. 25, 2013 at 07:01pm
Kim Rodriguez is now regarded as one of the hot properties of the Kapuso Network. She recently won the New Movie Actress of the Year Award at the 29th PMPC Star Awards for Movies for the movie Ang Mumunting Lihim.

And in April, Kim takes her first lead role in GMA’s afternoon drama series, Ang Kakambal ni Eliana.

Kim was in GMA’s drama programs but she had no lines. In short, she was an atmosphere player.

Kakambal ni Eliana’s breakthrough teen actress Kim Rodriguez

Her career’s turning point was when she auditioned for Reel Love Presents Tween Hearts when the program added new actors to the current roster of stars led by Barbie Forteza, Bea Binene.

Her next projects were Sinner or Saint, Biritera, Coffee Prince.

In Coffee Prince, she was able to deliver emotional as well as comical dialogues and this gave a glimpse of her wide range of acting capability. Kim, who is now 18 years old, grew up with her lola. Her mother is an OFW and her father has never really recognized her.

In most of her growing up years, she lived with her lola in a rented house. She used to go to school but had to stop because of budgetary constraints. While she was taping for Reel Love back in 2011, her lola died.

Being given the role of Eliana, at this point; is a bittersweet victory for Kim because her lola, whom she shares all her victories and defeats with, is no longer around.

Kim will be joined by Enzo Pineda, Kristoffer Martin and Lexi Fernandez in Kakambal ni Eliana. This show will be directed by Roderick Lindayag and will air April 22 on GMA Afternoon Prime.
