Philippines’ pride in the Lotus F1 Junior Team

By Isah V. Red | Mar. 13, 2013 at 06:01pm
The year 2013 is proving to be a promising one for young sports superstar Marlon Stockinger who made Filipinos proud in the international motor racing scene by winning numerous international races—among them the world’s most prestigious Grand Prix race in Monaco—and being the first Southeast Asian race car driver chosen to join the junior ranks of one of the most legendary Formula One teams—The Lotus F1 Team!

Dubbed as one of the “Young Ones,” Marlon Stockinger proudly represents the Philippines alongside six other recruits from across the globe (Marco Sorensen of Denmark, Alex Fontana of Switzerland, Oscar Tunjo of Colombia, Esteban Ocon of France, Alexander Albon of Thailand and Dorian Boccolacci of France); and they will all be supported by the Lotus F1 Team.

Marlon has this to say when asked about the significance of joining the Lotus F1 Team Junior Program, “It’s a great feeling to be associated with such a prestigious team. If you look back through the years as Benetton and Renault you can see that this team knows how to win championships, so to be surrounded by that heritage is a big honor for me. I really want to make the most of it and am looking forward to wearing the team colors with pride.” Marlon will take a huge step this year as he competes in the World Series by Renault, a challenge that he vows to truly work hard for to build a strong platform and progress through the ranks.

Lotus F1 Team Principal Eric Boullier said, “Motorsport can be very daunting for young drivers, particularly everything that occurs away from the track, so we hope to give our drivers the very best preparation possible for their future careers.”

Stockinger, which is the Philippines’ best representation of speed, has been an ambassador of the country’s most reliable broadband, Tattoo since the beginning of his journey toward the F1 dream. Now that’s he’s leapt closer to that dream, Tattoo continues to support Stockinger in a partnership that has transcended from an analogy on speed to a relationship that has become world-class.

Marlon and the rest of the Lotus F1 Team have a very special treat for Filipino motorsport fans. For the very first time,  Filipinos will witness and experience first-hand, the fastest show on earth as we bring Formula One to the streets of Manila.  An actual Formula 1 car will be flown in for a Lotus F1 Roadshow happening on May 3-5 at the streets of Manila. Marlon will have the unique privilege of being its official driver. This is a dream come true for Marlon, who at a very young age has dreamt of making it big internationally and representing the country as a car-racing champ.

It could only get bigger and better for Marlon from here. With a solid team such as the Lotus F1 behind him plus the support of Tattoo, Marlon shows no signs of stopping. As Marlon drives into high gear towards that Formula 1 dream—let’s race with him!  Marlon Stockinger wants the Philippines in the World Racing Map, let’s follow his every turn as he races to the finals and becomes the Philippines’ First F1 Junior Driver to race in the most prestigious World Series by Renault!
