WORLD Boxing Organization/World Boxing Association world flyweight champion Brian Viloria wants to put on a great show when he defends his title against Mexico’s Juan Francisco Estrada at the Venetian Resort Hotel in Macau on April 6.
Viloria told the Manila Standard after another hard workout at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym that “right now, I want to give a great fight.”
The champion is handled by the Roach’s assistant, Filipino Marvin Somodio, but the American trainer serves as an adviser and occasionally gives him some tips.
“I feel great and ready to go. I can’t wait to get this fight underway,” said Viloria.
However, Viloria said that while his training is going good, he conceded that Estrada is a tough guy.
“But we’ll see what happens. I expect a toe-to-toe battle. My fight plan is to bring it to him (Estrada),” said Viloria.
The two-division world champion added he’s been sparring with two-time Olympic and three-time world gold medalist Zou Shiming, who will make his professional debut on the Macau card against a bantamweight named Ricardo.
Viloria is coming off a 10th-round technical knockout over Mexican Hernan Marquez from whom he won the WBA belt, while Estrada recently lost to undefeated WBA light flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez of Nicaragua on the same fight card at the Los Angeles Sports Arena last November.
